Reese Witherspoon opened up about one her more interesting traits recently.
Speaking at the INBOUND 2023 conference, Witherspoon talked on a number of subjects, including what her “beige flag” is, according to TODAY. Psychotherapist Dr. Zoe Shaw defined the term as “something that simply makes you go, ‘Huh. What is that person doing?’”
In conversation, the “Walk the Line” actor was asked by NBC News Daily co-anchor Pinhole Essamuah what she considered her own “beige flag” to be. Thinking for a moment, she responded, “I will touch literally any bug or disgusting thing.”
“It freaks people out,” Witherspoon said. “If there’s bugs or weird things, I pick it up. I have a morbid fascination with bugs. It grosses people out. It’s weird and gross, I know. I can’t stop, it’s like a compulsion.”
She went on to blame her brother John for her interest in insects, saying that since childhood “I was a tomboy.”
Witherspoon has previously discussed her interest in creepy and crawly critters in a conversation with Natalie Portman in Harper’s Bazaar back in 2019.
“This is going to sound weird, but I like insects and spiders,” she told Portman. “I was kind of a tomboy growing up. It grosses everybody out, but I like to pick up bugs.”
Witherspoon stars with Jennifer Aniston in the third season of “The Morning Show,” premiering Sept. 13 on Apple TV+.
