ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOX) - For the first time in more than a year, there isn't a single patient suffering from COVID-19 in the ICU at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center. The St. Louis County hospital commemorated the fact with a celebratory Facebook post.

On Wednesday, the hospital shared photos of medical staff with signs that state "Better Days Ahead," and "A COVID Warrior Never Gives Up."

The post says it's "the first day since March 19, 2020 (399 days) with ZERO ICU COVID-19 patients."

Missouri Baptist was ranked as the No. 2 hospital in metro St. Louis and No. 3 in Missouri by U.S. News & World Report.

St. Louis County reported just 62 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, down from 221 new cases a week prior.

But it's not a sign of the pandemic's end, as earlier this week St. Louis County discovered 71 people who have contracted COVID-19 even though they were fully vaccinated. Officials say it proves people still need to take precautions even after they're vaccinated.
