Along with a few others, Davis revealed the origin of his 2017 smash, "Singles You Up," written with Steven Dale Jones and Justin Ebach.
"Justin had just gotten engaged, and we're like, 'dude, you were smart not to single her up.' And then the second he said that I was like, 'Whoa, that's a killer idea.'"
"It was truly one of those, it happened in the room, and we wrote it and I called Kris on the way home, and I was like, 'yeah, we just wrote a song. It's either really good or really dumb.' And she was like, 'what's it called?' And I was like, 'singles you up,' and she was like, 'I don't know, that sounds like a dumb one.'"
Dumb all the way to number one in 2018, as the lead single of Davis' album, Home State, and one that continues to be a fan favorite.
