“I believe talking about mental health is helpful because lots of people find it difficult to talk about,” he told Audacy in an interview surrounding the I’m Listening initiative. “If people like myself talk about it it may just encourage those listening or watching to also talk about it… if it can make the experience less lonely, I think that’s a positive.”

Odell also shared another way he prioritizes and tends to his mental health which is through what he calls “the greatest medicine of all” — music.

“Ever since I was a kid, I’ve played the piano every evening and I use it as a way of processing and dealing with stress,” he shared. “It was always this sort of safe, happy place. I think music is that for so many people. I think it’s the greatest medicine of all.”

Audacy's I’m Listening initiative aims to encourage those who are dealing with mental health issues to understand they are not alone. If you or anyone you know is struggling with depression or anxiety, know that someone is always there. Additionally, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 988.
