When we're talking about a cult following around Texas, fans of Buc-ee's will put their affinity for the gas station above most everything else the Lone Star State has to offer.
However, a new challenger is set to enter the fold.
After moving its corporate headquarters to Fort Worth in 2020, Allsup's is expanding its reach around North Texas!
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the convenience store chain is expanding with nine new open or planned stores near Fort Worth and eight near Dallas.
While Buc-ee's seems to offer a wider variety of snacks, ask any Allsup's fan and they will claim their line of fried burritos and chimichangas will trump Bever Nuggets any day of the week.
Allsup's stores usually feature 5,630 square feet of merchandising space and between 16 and 24 fueling positions, though in college towns like Denton, Allsup's will open a "bodega-style" shop near the University of North Texas that do not feature gas pumps.
Yesway CEO Tom Trkla described the stores as an opportunity to "meet the needs of the college students."
