Oklahoma isn’t usually thought of as a vacation destination, but that may soon be changing. It was recently announced that a massive Disney-like amusement park will be built in Oklahoma and is expected to be open by 2026. The new American Heartland Theme Park and Resort will cost $2 billion to build and will stretch across 125 acres of land.
A group of 20 former Disney Parks builders and Walt Disney Imagineers are currently hard at work, designing a massive new theme park comparable to Disney World's Magic Kingdom in Florida or Disneyland in California. However, this park will be located in the heart of northeast Oklahoma, just off Route 66. “The development will attract visitors from around the world to experience and celebrate the rich cultures and hometown values America has to offer,” said Oklahoma State Rep. Rusty Cornwell.
According to People, the park will feature an “Americana-themed environment” with classic amusement park rides, live shows, family attractions, waterways, and restaurants. The entire development will be built in phases with an RV park and cabins opening in spring 2025, and the theme park and resort are scheduled to open in 2026. Soon, a great vacation for Texans will only be one state away.
