As summer approaches and the weather starts heating up, Texans can't help but wonder about how our ol' pal ERCOT is going to hold up.

Well, we've heard from the grid operator themselves about what they forecast for this upcoming triple digit season.

According to the Dallas Morning News, ERCOT has predicted there is a 16% chance of an electrical grid emergency in August, with a 12% chance of rolling blackouts.

The time of day where ERCOT believes the most strain will be out on the power grid is between 8pm and 9pm in August.  That's when the grid typically most stressed because that's when "production of solar power is waning, and usage rates are near their highest levels."

The amount of people still moving to Texas is also causes a higher strain on the grid, which is something ERCOT is actively planning for.

Pablo Vegas, ERCOT's president and CEO said in April, "As a result of Texas' continued strong economic growth, new load is being added to the ERCOT system faster and in greater amounts than ever before."
