An escaped inmate from Alabama was recently apprehended over 600 miles away from Marion County, Alabama at a Buc-ee's in North Texas.

Officers in Melissa, TX were notified that the fugitive, 25-year-old Pierson McKinnley Anthony might be in the area.

Officers located Anthony in the parking lot of the Buc-ee's at 1550 Central Expy in Melissa and captured him after he exited a vehicle and attempted to flee on foot northbound on the frontage road.

He was taken into custody without further incident.  The driver of the vehicle was also taken into custody due to an active felony warrant for aiding Anthony's escape, according to CBS News.

Anthony, who was serving a sentence for assault, escaped the Alabama jail at 11:20pm on Saturday, was taken into custody at Buc-ee's just before 2pm on Sunday.

He and the driver were taken to Collin County Jail and are awaiting extradition to Alabama.
