DFW’s own Ashley Cain reached new heights in 2022 when she competed at the Beijing Winter Olympics. Now, a little over a year later the ice skater who trains in Euless has found a new way to use her athletics skills. Cain is now traveling the world, portraying Elsa in the Disney on Ice show ‘Mickey and Friends.’
Ashley Cain spent her life pursuing her Olympic dreams, but after retiring from competition, the ice skater found something new to focus on. She was recently hired to portray Elsa for Disney on Ice, and while many would assume the transition would be easy, Cain claims it was a challenge stepping into the high-profile role, learning the choreography, and skating in costume.
“There were some tears. But I have really great castmates that kept me in good spirits and were just like 'We know how you feel,'" said Cain.
According to NBC DFW, Cain has already traveled to the Middle East with the show, and will soon skate for audiences in Asia and South America. Luckily, she has a good support system behind her, as her parents were also elite ice skaters who met while cast members for Disney on Ice. Maybe this new career will be just as special as competing at the Olympics.
