They say dogs are man's best friend, and like a best friend; dogs will always have their owner's back. That's exactly what one dog proved recently when it helped stop a home intruder. Now, the dog is being called a hero after helping to save the Texas family from a man entering their home with a knife.

According to the Newsom family, a man entered their Wylie, Texas home recently after they accidentally left the back door unlocked. Luckily for the family, their dog was on alert and attacked the intruder once he entered the home. "Well, it was pitch black, so we couldn't see anything, only could hear Marley, and once he flipped the hall light on, we realized that the guy was holed up in the corner trying to hide," said Amber Newsom.
The dog was able to bite and stop the intruder, but sadly the intruder was able to slash the eight year old dog, along with stabbing the father, Taylor Newsom, according to Fox News. Luckily, no one was seriously injured, and police later arrested the intruder, charging him with animal cruelty and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. This is even more reason why everyone should own a dog.
