Many young adults can relate to the misfortunes of Molly Ringwald’s character throughout the film. However, the actress likely never thought she would have to experience that level of angst, especially at 54 years old. Sadly, that’s exactly what happened recently as the actress shared texts revealing her real life mother forgot her birthday this year.

Molly Ringwald turned 54 over the weekend, and while her day was likely filled with excitement and joy, the actress decided to share one of the downsides with her fans. According to Yahoo, Ringwald shared a picture of a text exchange with her mother, showing the actress having to remind her that it was her birthday. “Life imitates art” the actress texted her mom, refereeing the plot to her iconic film, ‘Sixteen Candles.’
