Getting a DUI isn’t just exclusive to having a couple of cold ones before getting behind the wheel.

Texas lawyer Justin Sparks has revealed in a video that drinking too much caffeine can lead to a driver getting arrested for driving under the influence.

Sparks said in his video that “DWI in Texas isn't just alcohol,” and that if a driver drinks too much coffee, they could start to develop “disturbing behaviors behind the wheel.”

According to The Sun, someone who just consumed an extremely high amount of caffeine may “demonstrate erratic behavior or experience jitteriness, anxiety, or loss of focus,” and that in these instances, law enforcement officers might consider charging them under broader reckless or impaired driving laws.”

Sparks admits that while caffeine “is unlikely to meet the threshold for impairment,” and that a DWI from coffee isn’t really likely, he stressed that “many different substances could be grounds for a life-changing DWI charge.”
