It’s the end of an era as the Coyote Drive-In, which was served Fort Worth moviegoers for 14 years, is preparing to turn off the lights for good.
The theater announced it will permanently close on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7.
Managing Partner Glenn Solomon said in a statement per WFAA, “We have been incredibly fortunate to be part of the Fort Worth community and the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area, and we are deeply grateful to the hundreds of thousands of guests who chose to spend their evenings with us over the years.”
The theater’s closing is tied to the next phase of Fort Worth’s Trinity River Vision project. Under the terms if their agreement, Coyote Drive-In’s lease would end once the district began construction on two new canals and a three-acre park on the property.
That project is set to begin construction this fall.
Solomon thanked the drive-in’s customers, employees, business partners and the Fort Worth community for their support over the years, and also encourages guests to visit before its final night on Sept. 7 for “one last movie under the North Texas sky.”
