A correctional officer in Travis County was arrested after he was found to be smuggling chicken wings for an inmate in exchange for cash.

According to KXAN, 25-year-old Corrections Officer Amos Nyanway was caught smuggling in the wings after another officer started monitoring prison phone records.

During one of the call’s the officer heard the inmate tell a family member Nyanway brought him habanero mango chicken wings from Wingstop in exchange for $50 on CashApp.

Nyanway has been fired and is now facing charges of bringing contraband into the county’s correctional facility.

TCSO Sheriff Sally Hernandez said in the statement, “I’m disappointed that a Travis County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Officer made such a foolish decision. We hold our employees to a high standard of conduct and accountability. We simply cannot tolerate contraband of any type being brought into our secure facilities.”
