It has been a month since the entire country was dreaming of becoming an instant billionaire thanks to the $1.34 billion Mega Millions drawing. The winning ticket ended up coming from Illinois; however the prize is still yet to be claimed. Now many are left wondering what happens if the prize goes unclaimed.
On July 29, the numbers 13, 36, 45, 57 and 67, plus the Mega Ball of 14 were drawn for one of the largest Mega Millions prizes ever. While the lottery announced a ticket had been sold that matched those numbers, no one has come forward with the ticket yet. According to NBC DFW, the winner has one year after the draw date to claim the prize.

While the winner still has plenty of time to claim the prize, the winner only has 60 days after the draw date to select if they want the lump sum or annual payments. If the prize goes unclaimed, the money goes back to each state that put into the pot. Hopefully someone comes forward soon, or else one of the largest prizes ever will go unclaimed.
