It's not too often you run into greatness when you're out and about enjoying your Tuesday afternoon.
But for patrons of Cold Beer Co. in Deep Ellum, a visit to the bar yesterday afternoon led to a meeting with literally, the Great One.
Wayne Gretzy, the greatest hockey player of all time, stopped by the establishment for a couple of drinks while in town to witness the birth of his sixth grandchild.
Cold Beer Co. owner Kelly Wesner told WFAA that Gretzky introduced himself as "Wayne," and posed for pictures with other patrons of the bar that afternoon. He purchased two beers and paid the $14 tab with a $100 bill.
Wesner said Cold Beer Co. is going to put the cans he ordered on display and add a "The Great One" burger deal to its specials list. "I don't want to wash my hand," he said. "I'm still giddy."
