Never let anyone tell you that a Dallas concert isn’t loud.
That’s what some residents across parts of East Dallas and Lakewood are fuming about right now after an electronic dance music festival at Fair Park could be heard at homes miles away.
Bailey Cleere, who lives near Fair Park, told NBC DFW, “It was loud, to say the least. It was something I thought was going on across the street from me.”
While Cleere said she is accustomed to hearing noise from the venue, last Friday’s event was so loud she said it was strong enough to be felt inside her home.
Residents living as far as five miles away from the venue heard and felt the noise, which prompted an apology from Dallas city council member Adam Bazaldua. He said city officials have been in communication with the Park and Recreation Department, and that sound monitoring is underway around Fair Park and will be increased to better assess conditions.
Residents said they are not opposed to events at Fair Park but do hope sound levels are more manageable in the future. Cleer said, “We deserve to be able to go to sleep and put our kids to sleep without listening to a rave.
