Working with your ex could make anyone want to scream, but not Courteney Cox and David Arquette.

After making 4 films in the “Scream” franchise, the former couple reunited as exes for the first time since their high-profile divorce to film the latest chapter in the horror series.

With the 5th film getting ready to hit theaters, Cox and Arquette recently discussed if they had any hesitation to work with each other again.

“I had no apprehensions,” Cox told the New York Times, noting she was also excited to team up with returning star Neve Campbell. “I was just so happy to be working with both of them.”

Arquette and Cox met while filming the 1996 original and wed three years later in 1999. After welcoming their daughter Coco in 2004, the duo divorced in 2013. “Scream 4” was released in 2011, prior to their breakup.

“It’s been 25 years of our lives,” Arquette noted of working with Cox on the franchise. “We’ve grown up together. We have a child together.”

Despite their ups and down, the 50-year-old actor said collaborating with his ex-wife was healing. “It’s a cathartic experience to just be able to act opposite Courteney,” he told the outlet.

Filming their first scene together in the new movie even had Arquette letting out the waterworks.

“He got very emotional while he was filming it,” Cox said of her ex-husband.

In November, Arquette had a more lighthearted take while explaining how his and Cox’s relationship changed from one film to another.

"Well there's a few Screams in there," he jokingly said to Seth Meyers. "The first Scream we were falling in love, the second Scream, she hated me."

In the latest sequel, Cox reprises her role as reporter Gale Weathers, Arquette returns as Sheriff Dewey Riley, and Campbell is back as final girl Sidney Prescott.

“Scream,” titled like the 1996 original, is set to hit theaters on January 14th.
