David Arquette is opening up about working with ex-wife Courteney Cox on the “Scream” films.

The pair have collaborated on five movies in the horror series and have seen their relationship go through various stages over the course of 25 years. Arquette and Cox met while filming the 1996 original and wed three years later in 1999. After welcoming their daughter Coco in 2004, the duo divorced in 2013.

Now with the latest film in the Ghostface franchise set to hit theaters next year, Arquette is disclosing the good and bad of getting to work with his former spouse.

“Thank god for [Scream director] Wes Craven because I got a baby out of it," Arquette said of his 17-year-old daughter during an appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” this week. "I mean, not Wes Craven, thank Courteney Cox!"

The 50-year-old then elaborated on how his and Cox’s relationship changed from one film to another.

"Well there's a few Screams in there," he jokingly added. "The first Scream we were falling in love, the second Scream, she hated me."

While the former couple were still married while filming “Scream 4” in 2011, they collaborated as friendly exes during production on the upcoming 5th chapter.

Aruette expressed his gratitude for getting to play Deputy (now Sheriff) Dewey Riley throughout the beloved franchise.

"It's a wonderful opportunity to be a part of something for 25 years," he continued. "I love playing the role of Dewey. He's such an iconic character."

In the latest sequel, Cox will also reprise her role as reporter Gale Weathers, while Neve Campbell will appear as Sidney Prescott.

“Scream,” titled like the 1996 original, hits theaters on January 14, 2022.
