Starting Thursday, Angel Island became accessible by ferry again.

KCBS Radio's Megan Goldsby talked to some day trippers getting off of the newly re-opened Tiburon Ferry.

Six-year-old Jonah had a great first trip to Angel Island.

“Well, we went on a walk and went to the beach, and then when the ferry left, we just waited another hour for the next ferry to come,” he told KCBS Radio.

Missing the boat notwithstanding, his grandmother said that she’s just grateful that it’s up and running again.

“We were amazed,” he said. “We just went over to the beach and had the whole beach to ourselves and it was a beautiful day. We’re really happy with the trip.”

Those interested in riding will need to make online reservations instead of just buying a ticket on board the way one would before the coronavirus pandemic. There are also strict distancing rules and masks are mandatory.
