The push is on in the Silicon Valley to try to get companies to allow more of their employees to work from home, through a new pledge called "cut the commute."
Drafted by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, the pledge asks companies to allow at least 25% of their workforce to work from home.

July 13, 2020 "Bay Area residents experience some of the longest commute times in the country," said Rob Sinks, Chair of the Air District. "Because of the pandemic, we are now acutely aware of our respiratory health, perhaps as never before. And the key question is what the world is that we want to create in the Bay Area once it’s safe for us to be together again."
In the first seven weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bay Area saw a 32% drop in carbon emissions.
