Despite heavy winds overnight and pockets of rain across the region, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District has issued an advisory though Monday due to smoke from lighting caused fires.
While multiple fires started early Sunday morning, the BAAQMD said regional air quality is expected to be good to moderate.
Landis said, however, that the possibility of more lightning strikes could create new fires, sending smoke into neighborhoods.
“Masks don’t really protect against wildfire smoke, and bandanas and things like that definitely do not, so people should take precautions,” she added.
