FREMONT, CA (KCBS Radio) - Fremont police evacuated Thornton Jr. High School in Fremont Friday morning after a threat was made against the school.

Police say someone anonymously emailed in a bomb threat, although they did not say who received the email. The school was evacuated as a safety precaution and to allow police to thoroughly search the campus.

Fremont PD spokeswoman Geneva Bosques tells KCBS Radio officers concluded a room-by-room sweep of the campus shortly after 10 a.m. and say nothing suspicious was found. They do not believe the threat was credible but detectives continue to investigate the email.

Students were safely evacuated to the nearby Cabrillo Shopping Center to be picked up by parents and guardians. Now that police have concluded their search, officials with the Fremont Unified School District say students will be walked back to campus where they can be picked up after 10:30 a.m. The school is also working with AC Transit to arrange alternative transportation for students who normally rely on the bus.

Fremont police are asking anyone with information about the threat to contact their detectives at 510-790-6900.
