KCBS Radio has won two prestigious Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for coverage in 2019.
The annual awards honor "outstanding achievements in electronic journalism" and are presented to news organizations yearly by The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA).
The winning Regional Awards were announced Tuesday.
KCBS Radio’s wins come in the "Newscast" and "Hard News" categories. The winning "Newscast" entry was from the morning of October 24, 2019, as the Kincade Fire erupted in Sonoma County. It features work from Susan Leigh Taylor, Jim Taylor, Matt Bigler, Holly Quan and Jeffrey Schaub, among others. The "Hard News" entry comes from KCBS Radio's Doug Sovern, who examined how local governments raising housing fees have impacted the Bay Area.
