Firefighters doubled containment of the wild Kincade Fire to 30% Wednesday morning despite confronting strong winds overnight in Sonoma County, Cal Fire said.
The fire's growth was largely stalled too as it increased by 687 acres to reach 76,825 acres or roughly 120 square miles.
Winds that were forecast to hit 70 miles per hour never materialized overnight. Instead they were in the range of 50 mph, which reduced the risk of the fire spreading.
Flames have destroyed 206 structures, including 94 homes. Still, 80,000 homes are considered to be threatened.
Two firefighters have been injured, one with minor injuries. More than 5,000 firefighters and personnel have been deployed across Wine Country to stop the fire.
No civilians have been physically harmed or reported missing.
