The leaders of a predominantly Black church in Berkeley are asking for the public's help in tracking down an arsonist who started a fire next to the sanctuary, believing the incident may be connected to a "Black Lives Matter" banner.

Surrounded by faith leaders from several churches Thursday, Senior Pastor Mike McBride - founder of the Way Christian Center on University Ave. - denounced what he called "an act of racial terror."

"The fire burned so hot that it burned the asphalt," Pastor McBride added.

Louis, who's lived in Berkeley for over 70 years, told KCBS Radio he's not surprised that racism is once again rearing its ugly head, even in the Bay Area.

A suspect remains at large.
