Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Monday has already revised his proposal for the trial's rules by allowing for a third day for opening arguments.
Initially, McConnell wanted to limit the opening arguments to 24 hours over two days each for the Democratic impeachment managers and White House defense team.
The change also allows for evidence from the House investigation to be added to the record.
A disagreement over whether to call additional witnesses has not yet been resolved.
