Sometimes hope comes from unexpected places.

In this case, it’s coming from an elevated place - Mount Diablo, to be exact.

The beacon atop the East Bay mountain will be lit this Sunday night and every Sunday until the coronavirus crisis has ended.

Save Mount Diablo Executive Director Ted Clement told KCBS Radio the hope is that every Sunday after sunset, people in the East Bay will admire the beacon as a symbol of hope in this uncertain world of COVID-19.

It’s typically lit every December 7th to honor the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

A simple reminder that better days are ahead.
