A hiker in Yosemite National Park fell to her death while climbing to the top of the iconic granite cliffs of Half Dome.
Danielle Burnett, 29, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, was scaling the steepest part of the trail Thursday where cables are used when she fell more than 500 feet down the steep, rocky terrain, according to park spokesman Scott Gediman.
She was dead when rangers found her, Gediman said.
Officials will continue investigating her fall, he said.
The cables are installed each summer to help climbers reach the summit of the 8,800-foot Half Dome.
The 14-mile round trip hike is one of the most popular in Yosemite.
