A new weather website from PG&E offers forecasts and information about possible power shutoffs.
The website — www.pge.com/weather — predicts the potential power shutoff, which typically occur when there's a combination of strong winds, dry conditions and high temperatures up to a week in advance for customers in the utility company's vast service area.
The website displays detailed weather information for northern and central California.
The chance of a deliberate outage falls into four categories: not expected, elevated, public safety power shutoff watch and public safety power shutoff warning.
PG&E started the shutoff program as a precautionary measure earlier this year as it has faced scrutiny and potential billions of dollars in liabilities for its role in some of the devastating wildfires that ripped through the state in the last two years.
