A man was fatally shot by San Jose police who responded to reports of an armed suspect Thursday, according to authorities.
The shooting happened around 2:26 p.m. near the intersection of McKee and Jackson Avenue near Independence High School.
Witnesses told NBC Bay Area that the man carried a rifle as he walked down the street.
The suspect was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Police say they are investigating the incident as an officer involved shooting.
No officers were injured.
