SAN FRANCISCO — Cable cars that carry riders up and down San Francisco's steep hills will be taken out of service for 10 days this month for a rehabilitation project.

Shuttle buses will replace the three cable car routes while the work is completed, Muni officials have announced.

The shutdown will begin Friday, Sept. 13, according to the San Francisco Examiner.
