On Saturday, health officials gave an update on the state of coronavirus in San Francisco.
In the last 24 hours, there were 14 new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 and no new fatalities, according to the San Francisco Department of Public Health.
The total number of cases of COVID-19 now stands at 1354, with 22 deaths.
On Friday, the city reported administering 356 tests, with 5% coming back positive. According to Mission Local, that is the lowest positive testing rate in six weeks.
The news comes as Mayor London Breed disclosed the city’s shelter-in-place order could be extended beyond their current May 3rd expiration date.
“People keep asking if the public health order will be extended,” said Breed, “the likelihood that will happen is very likely.”
With good weather expected for the weekend, Breed also urged residents to continue maintaining safety protocols.
“This weekend is going to be a beautiful weekend in San Francisco, and I want to really take this opportunity to caution people about wanting to get back to things that are more familiar,” said Breed, “I know your kids want to play with their friends, I know you want to see your friends, I know so many of you want to have interactions with one another.”
