Pop-up COVID-19 testing sites in Santa Clara County, at which people can get tested for free, without an appointment or doctor’s note, tend to have very long lines.
"There are so many people that are interested that we end up having long waits," said Deputy County Executive David Campos.
To combat that, people will be given wristbands when they check in at pop-up sites, instead of having to stand around and wait, Campos told KCBS Radio.

— Santa Clara County (@SCCgov) July 25, 2020"You can run errands, do whatever else you need to do and come back at a particular time to get a test," he said.
The new system is something county officials thought people would welcome, as it will be more user friendly and effective, Campos added.
The supply of wristbands will be based on the number of tests available, so the county recommends those interested in a test at a pop-up site arrive earlier in the day rather than later. Once a pop-up testing location runs out of wristbands, people will be advised to try other sites nearby.
