San Francisco police announced they'd arrested a suspect who robbed and abused an elderly Asian man as he collected recyclable cans in what authorities have called a hate crime.
Dwayne Grayson, 20, was booked Thursday for charges of robbery, elder abuse, a probation violation for a prior robbery conviction and a hate crime enhancement, the police said.
Grayson allegedly recorded and shared the video while another man swings a pole and chases away the 68-year-old man who was lugging large plastic bas filled with cans in the Bayview neighborhood.
Abusive language is heard.

"I think it's important to know that the strength of San Francisco is its diversity," said Supervisor Ahsha Safai. "The first thing people see is people's ethnicity and race. That incident could have happened to anybody.
Officers are searching for another suspect who has been identified, authorities said.
