In some ways, there may be no more perfect shelter-in-place entertainment than television, particularly in this current golden age of TV.

"If you’re lucky enough to have a decent Internet connection and a couple good subscriptions to Netflix or Hulu or Disney or whatever, you are able to in fact while away the hours, the weeks, the months, with plenty of content," Syracuse University Professor of Television and Pop Culture Robert Thompson said.

But what are we watching?

So, shows that feel comfortable and familiar might be attractive as we weather the coronavirus pandemic and shelter-in-place.

"Sometimes in this womb-like return-to-the-home existence, reruns of 'The Love Boat' can be just what the doctor ordered," Thompson said.
