It probably goes without saying that tourism in Sonoma County, like so many other places, has taken a tremendous hit during the coronavirus pandemic.
Restaurants, hotels and wineries remain closed.
Now, a new social media campaign aims to inject love and support into the economic pain this coronavirus pandemic has brought to the North Bay.
The video on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram has a title we can all identify with.
It’s called "We’re In This Together," and features many of the familiar Sonoma County scenes we’ve come to know and love.
Expect cameos from Sonoma County vintners, Bear Republic Brewing Company in Cloverdale and even giraffes at Santa Rosa’s Safari West spreading messages of support and strength.
"This is not the time at all for any of us to promote travel or even to look at travel in the future," Sonoma County Tourism President and CEO Claudia Vecchio said.
"It’s a time for us to kind of embrace what we have and the issues we’re all facing," Vecchio said. "Really what’s why I think the 'We’re In This Together' theme resonates so well."
The damage to the county’s hospitality industry cannot be told yet, but it could be unprecedented.
