Summer camps for kids in San Francisco will be happening after all.
They'll look different than in years past as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, with some big changes being made just to make summer camp a reality.
"Minimum three-week sessions with this idea that your child will be doing one activity this week and then a different activity the next week, we can’t do that this summer," San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department General Manager Phil Ginsburg said.
"Social distancing and then kids over six, particularly while they’re inside, will be asked to wear masks," Ginsburg said. "Our staff will be wearing masks. Yes, there will be social distancing and a lot of sanitation and, most importantly, a lot of hand washing."
This comes as welcome news for parents, many of whom have been struggling balancing work and child care.
"Parents do need some activities for their kids," Ginsburg said.
