It’s the hot new release, and it seems that everyone has an opinion. KCBS Radio reporter Tim Ryan went to Barnes in Noble at Hillsdale Mall in San Mateo to check out the release of “The Room Where it Happened" from former National Security Advisor, John Bolton.
One woman arrived before the store even opened and purchased the book for her son.
“He just wants to hear the story, what Bolton has to say,” she said.
Jay was one of the first to make a purchase, and told KCBS Radio that he wondered why Bolton couldn’t have spelled out his allegations months ago during President Trump's impeachment trial.
“What I know about the book, so far, it shows that this man is completely incompetent as a president, should not be president, and is kind of a con man,” he said.
Paul, a retiree from Burlingame, makes it clear he’s no fan of the president and says he’s bombarded by news from the right and the far left. He wants to make decisions for himself.
“I ask myself Am I stupid, or am I smart?," he said. "And I’m sorry, but this president thinks we're all stupid and I don’t want to be one of them."
One man bought three as gifts, and another buyer gave her opinion on this year’s presidential election.
“I don’t think Trump will be allowed to have another term, not the way he’s been handling everything the last three and a half years,” she said.
Barnes and Noble said pre-sales have been strong. Copies of the book are stacked on a table just inside the door at that location and are selling for $32.50 per copy.
