Westbound I-580 has been shut for hours on Tuesday in Oakland after a police chase ended in a crash.
The crash occurred near Telegraph Avenue.
I-580 westbound at Telegraph is closed due to police activity. Traffic is being diverted to SR-24 eastbound or I-980 westbound. Unknown ETO at this time. For media inquiries, please contact our Golden Gate Division on-call PIO.

August 27, 2019 Traffic, which was backed up for miles, has been diverted onto 980 and Highway 24.
The California Highway Patrol said the lanes may reopen around 3:30 p.m. but have not released details about the crash.
