Despite firefighters continuing to gain the upper hand on the three big wildfires burning in the Bay Area, you might notice the air quality has gotten significantly worse in your neighborhood.

How bad is it?

According to Purple Air, the Bay Area has some of the worst air in the world right now.

The agency said Friday the smoke plume from the CZU Lightning Complex "is anticipated to continue moving north and spread into the Peninsula and East Bay."

Murdock said that while breezy conditions continue in the Bay Area’s peaks, those same winds continue to lag in lower regions, causing the hazy, unhealthy conditions.

The Bay is expected to get some relief, however, as the weekend progresses.

"Our marine layer over the weekend is probably going to try to increase, which will help some of that moisture coming through, but also it will cause those winds to start picking up coming from the ocean inland," Murdock said. "Hopefully, those winds will start mixing up this weekend, helping us get rid of some of that smoke in the area."

The winds might die down a bit early next week, according to Murdock.
