Sheriff's deputies went to the home after a relative called saying they had not heard from a family member who lives in that home.

Deputies found, "a male and female victims deceased from suspected gunshot wounds inside the detached residence," according to a statement from the sheriff's office. "The victims appeared to have been deceased for several days and there were obvious signs of foul play."

Investigators are proceeding under the likelihood that a double murder took place.

"The crime scene and condition of the victims have made it difficult to determine the circumstances of the deaths," the statement said.

The Sheriff's office has advised people to avoid the area of Forest Avenue and Robin Lane off of Castro Valley Boulevard.
