Welcome to the weekend. Bob Pryor from KCBS Radio's traffic team is here to help smooth our your plans with suggestions on fun things to do and useful information about the roads and public transit system for the next couple of days. Follow @KCBSAMFMTraffic on Twitter for round-the-clock updates and bookmark our section on the website to see what else is happening in the world of Bay Area transportation news.

Spring must be almost here, because in San Francisco, there's the return of the popular Sunday Streets program that turns a busy street into a pedestrian haven.

Not only that, we have the Silicon Valley Auto Show in San Jose to remind us that the top down, windows-open, stereo-cranked pleasures of the open read aren’t too far away.

One more sign of spring that's going to affect each and every one of us: At 2:00am on Sunday morning, you’ll want to set your clocks ahead one hour as Daylight Saving time begins. Yes, morning darkness and evening light will be making their re-introduction. Try to get some extra rest to make it easier to adjust the clock change.

When it comes to transportation, East Bay BART riders should be aware of some track work while there is a major freeway paving project in Sausalito that may impact many drivers.

SOUTH BAY:

Fri, Mar 8 thru Sun, Mar 10, starting at 10am daily: San Jose’s McEnery Convention Center hosts the Silicon Valley Auto Show. “From Lamborghini to Lincoln, electric cars to over-the-top exotics”.

  • Pro tip: From CalTain’s San Jose Diridon Station, VTA’s Winchester/Mountain View light rail line will take you straight to the Convention Center. From BART’s Warm Springs station, you have to take the VTA's 181 express bus and transfer to Winchester/Mountain View light rail line to get there. Alternatively, the McEnery Convention Center has its own underground garage and there are plenty of paid parking garages in downtown San Jose.
  • Areas and roadways affected: In San Jose: W San Carlos Street, S Market Street, Almaden Blvd, other streets in the core Downtown area.

EAST BAY:

Sat, Mar 9 and Sun, Mar 10 all day: There will be major delays on and disruptions to BART this weekened. Once again, the Richmond Station will close portions of the platform in order to do tile replacement work, which involves single-tracking.on Saturday. There will be no Saturday service on the Red Line between Richmond and Millbrae. Riders also will not be able to transfer at Oakland's 19th Street station between the Orange and Yellow lines. Plus, there will be work on the tunnel beneath the Berkeley hills that will add 5-10 minutes. Yikes!

On Sunday, there will be two fewer trains running from Warm Springs to Daly City. The delays continue between the Embarcadero and 24th Street stations in San Francisco that will cause 10 to 15 minutes delays.

  • Pro tip: For more details about the maintenance work and how it will affect BART riders, check out their website. The good news is that this is the third weekend of Richmond Station work and the last one currently on BART’s schedule.
  • Secondary pro tip: A lot has changed recently for BART’s Sunday riders, too much to detail here. But I highly recommend visiting this page and, in particular, scrolling to the page-bottom, where there’s a BART map designed for those who ride the system on Sundays.

PENINSULA:

Fri, Mar 8 (3pm-9pm); Sat, Mar 9 (11am-9pm); Sun, Mar 10 (11am-7pm): Daly City’s Cow Palace hosts HempCon, a marijuana industry trade show for vendors and others in the cannabis industry.

  • Pro tip: Public transportation to HempCon will be a two-stage trip: From either the Balboa Park BART station or CalTrain’s Bayshore station, you’ll need to catch a bus in order to get to the Cow Palace. Fortunately, the Palace has a public transportation webpage to help out with that, and there’s also a parking page for those who prefer to drive and pay to park in the on-site lot.

SAN FRANCISCO:

Sun, Mar 10 from 11am-4pm: The 2019 season of Sunday Streets kicks off in the Mission District, with Valencia Street closed to motor vehicles between Duboce Avenue and 26th Street. Here’s a route map of Sunday’s closure and here’s a listing of Sunday Streets’ dates and locations for the 2019 season.

  • Pro tip: Be aware that, starting at 8am, your car can be TOWED if it’s parked anywhere on this 13-block-long stretch of Valencia -- or even if it’s just parked very close to Valencia on one of the intersecting streets. To be safe, see the heading “Detours and Parking Changes” at the website:
  • Areas and roadways affected: In San Francisco, Valencia Street between Duboce Avenue and 26th Street closed to motor vehicles. Also, likely extra traffic on Guerrero, Mission, and Folsom Streets.

NORTH BAY/SOLANO:

Fri Mar 8, Sat Mar 9, and Sun Mar 10 from 11am-5am: There will be lanes closed on southbound on Highway 101 in Sausalito from the Spencer Avenue on-ramp to the Robin Williams Tunnel, Caltrans will be doing paving work involving intermittent lane closures. At least two lanes will remain open during the day. At night, one lane will remain open. Only from 5am to 11am will all lanes be open.

  • Pro tip: This work will happen again from Thursday, March 14 to Tuesday, March 19, same hours.
  • Areas and roadways affected: In Sausalito, the slightly more than one-half mile long stretch of southbound Highway 101 just north of the Robin Williams Tunnel.
