OAKLAND — An Oakland mother is begging for answers weeks after her teenage son went missing.

It’s been four weeks since Isata Bandabaila last heard from her son.

"Imagine your child out there. You don't know if they are hurt," she said. "It's a nightmare. I wouldn't wish this on anyone."

Jonathan Bandabaila, 19, went missing May 3. His 1998 Honda Accord was found on the San Mateo Bridge the next day.

His mother rules out any speculations of suicide.

"He didn't have anything to be suicidal about," she said. "Him and I are very close."

His older brother Harrison says Jonathan left for a soccer tournament in Los Angeles, and then stopped answering his phone and became inactive on social media.

"Text messages don't go through," Harrison said. "Nothing on Instagram is being read."

Crews have searched the Bay for Jonathan several times, but his mother says she’s not giving up hope.

"I trust in the Lord, so I'm very confident," she said.

Jonathan is a 5-foot-7 African-American man weighing 164 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray jump suit. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call Oakland police.
