SAUSALITO — A mudslide after heavy rain dislodged a duplex here, sending it sliding 75 yards down a hill and colliding into another home on Thursday morning.

A woman inside the duplex that slipped from its foundation on Crescent Avenue was taken to a hospital for minor injuries. No one was in the other home.

The collision occurred at 3 a.m. and damaged electrical and gas lines, authorities said.

Roughly 50 nearby homes were evacuated due to the threat of mudslides.

"It's kind of that situation where you don't want to be around, but you do in case something bad happens. Should I grab things from my house," wondered neighbor Kate Maxwell.
