A tow truck driver was struck and killed by oncoming traffic after stopping on the shoulder of highway 101 in Sausalito on Tuesday afternoon to help another vehicle.
CHP Officer Andrew Barclay told KCBS Radio that the crash was reported just before 2:30 p.m. near the Spencer Avenue off-ramp in the southbound direction. A vehicle reportedly struck the tow truck and a second vehicle that was stopped on the right-hand shoulder.
The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash shut down the right two lanes of the freeway, which had re-opened by 6 p.m.
