Falling rock and ice killed a woman from Cupertino who was hiking on a closed trail at Yosemite National Park.
Xuan Wang, 56, died on Sunday afternoon following an excursion onto the Mist Trail, which closes this time of year due to icy and hazardous conditions. The popular path links the Yosemite Valley with the top of Vernal Fall.
Wang allegedly ignored clearly marked signs and a gate meant to prevent visitors from entering the area, according to park officials.
The National Park Service is investigating Wang's death.
