CASTRO VALLEY (KCBS Radio) -- Authorities arrested a teenager Friday morning after a wild series of events that saw two cars hijacked and a home damaged when it was struck by a fleeing vehicle.
KCBS Reporter Tim Ryan, piecing together information from multiple law enforcement agencies, said it began shortly after midnight with a reported carjacking on Estudillo Avenue in San Leandro.
At some point after that report, California Highway Patrol officers spotted the stolen vehicle and a chase ensued. The fleeing driver eventually crashed the car into a home on Parsons Avenue in Castro Valley. Two women living in the house were unhurt but the home's garage sustained significant damage.
After the crash, the driver fled the scene and, according to Alameda County Sheriff's deputies, carjacked another vehicle.
Eventually, the episode ended with the second vehicle crashing into a fence. The driver was arrested. His identity was not immediately available, though authorities described him as a "juvenile".
