NOVATO (KCBS Radio) -- Westbound lanes of Highway 37 remained closed between Atherton Ave. and Highway 101 in Novato on Friday morning as water poured across the pavement.
The floodwaters began to rise after a Thursday levee break along Novato Creek.
Authorities initially closed a single westbound lane on Thursday evening but expanded the closure to both westbound lanes as the flooding worsened.
Hydrology reports indicate Novato Creek actually crested on Thursday, with water levels expected to continue to fall. The California Highway Patrol said it expected the westbound lanes of the road to remain closed until Saturday morning.
