SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS Radio) -- Gas prices continue their rapid rise. The latest numbers from AAA show Bay Area pump prices are up about 20 cents in the last week and about 50 cents in the last month.
A gallon of regular-grade gasoline now goes for an average of $3.92 in San Francisco. In San Jose, it's up to $3.85 a gallon.
Meanwhile, a new study of gas prices by the GasBuddy app shows there are better and worse times to tank up.
In a study put together for USA Today, GasBuddy found prices vary from day to day. The data show California prices tend to be lowest on Mondays--and highest on Sundays.
It's not a huge number, but GasBuddy figures people who target the cheapest days to gas up could save $20 to $30 a year over tanking up on the priciest days.
